What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness Meditation is a western, secular, research-based form of meditation derived from a 2,500 year old Buddhist practice.

In recent years modern medicine has come to show, through robust scientific study and research, that the use of meditation can have striking benefits for those suffering from stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.  In more recent years, Mindfulness Based Approaches have been developed to help those suffering from addiction, eating disorders, alcoholism and victims of abuse.

The pace of modern life can be so frantic that most of us would benefit from taking a little time out for ourselves. Having the opportunity to take stock, gives us the chance to appreciate our lives even through difficulties. Mindfulness Meditation is potentially of benefit to all, as it may aid in prevention of both physical and mental illness. Indeed it is hard to see who would not benefit from a more Mindful approach to life.
